Climate Action
United Way Bengaluru is committed to tackling pressing environmental challenges through focused and impactful initiatives. Our work centers on critical areas such as water conservation, groundwater recharge, and biodiversity preservation, guided by integrated, science-based approaches that ensure long-term sustainability. Through strong collaborations with local communities, government, and corporate partners, we implement programs that improve water security, rejuvenate groundwater levels, and protect ecological diversity in both urban and rural landscapes. Beyond addressing environmental concerns, these efforts aim to cultivate a deep sense of community engagement and stewardship, empowering people to take collective ownership of their natural resources.

One Billion Drops
The ‘One Billion Drops’ campaign aims to replenish the depleting groundwater levels by conserving rainwater. It involves an integrated approach where social, technical and environmental aspects are blended during the goal of the flagship program is to build 10,ooo recharge wells by 2o26 and thereby conserve 1 billion litres of rainwater every year.

Groundwater recharge
Water security

Mangroves Matter
The ‘Mangroves Matter’ campaign aims to protect and restore vital coastal ecosystems along the Eastern and Western coastlines of India. These ecosystems, including mangroves, wetlands, and brackish water bodies, play a crucial role in supporting biodiversity, mitigating climate change, protecting shorelines from erosion, and sustaining the livelihoods of coastal communities. A key focus of the initiative is the rewilding of 1 million mangrove trees across 1oo acres of degraded or vulnerable coastal land. This large-scale effort aims to revive natural habitats, enhance carbon sequestration, and strengthen climate resilience.
