What This Year's Philanthropy Journey Truly Meant to Me

Every year, TCS World 10K Bengaluru gives us a reason to come together. But for me, this year felt different. It wasn't just about the run. It was about watching a community come alive, with intent, with empathy, and with a shared belief that we can make a difference.

When I look at the Leaderboard, I don't just see numbers. I see effort. I see stories. I see people choosing to care.

A collective effort that grew beyond expectations

This year, our journey brought together:

94

NGOs working across diverse causes

46

Corporates stepping forward with purpose

218

Individual fundraisers who went above and beyond

7

Institutions that rallied their communities

Each of these numbers represents people who chose to act, not because they had to, but because they wanted to.

The causes that moved us

What made this journey meaningful was the diversity of causes we were able to support. From what I have seen, some of the most compelling work this year focused on:

  • Education – enabling access, improving learning environments, and supporting underserved children
  • Community & Skill Development – empowering individuals with skills, dignity, and opportunity
  • Healthcare – funding critical treatments, preventive care, and community health initiatives, ensuring care for the most vulnerable, from neonates to the elderly
  • Women Empowerment – creating pathways for independence, safety, and dignity by supporting education, livelihoods, and leadership opportunities for women and girls
  • Environment & Sustainability – restoring ecosystems, promoting awareness, and driving long-term change

And this is where it becomes real. The funds raised are not just totals on a dashboard. They will translate into:

  • Children staying in school and learning in safer, better-equipped environments
  • Individuals gaining skills that lead to sustainable livelihoods and financial independence
  • Neonates, patients, and the elderly receiving timely and essential healthcare
  • Women accessing opportunities that enable independence, leadership, and long-term empowerment
  • Stronger, more resilient communities and a healthier, more sustainable environment
Philanthropy in action — community impact

What stayed with me

Personally, what stood out was not just the scale, but the spirit.

  • I saw first-time fundraisers push themselves out of their comfort zones.
  • I saw young fundraisers step up with incredible enthusiasm and purpose.
  • I saw teams rally around a shared cause.
  • I saw friendly competition on the leaderboard turn into genuine encouragement.

“When people can see the impact they are creating, something shifts they lean in a little more.”

This is just the beginning

If there's one takeaway for me, it is this: philanthropy works best when it feels personal. And this year, it did.

To everyone who contributed, whether you raised funds, supported a cause, or simply spread the word, thank you for being part of something meaningful.

We have done well. But more importantly, we have shown what is possible.

Let us build on this.
