During times of disaster, quick and effective measures become an imperative. These measures involve delivering essential resources like food, medicines, and psychological support to the affected. From 1995 to 2020, India has experienced a total of 1,058 instances of floods, cyclones, droughts, cold waves, and heatwaves, highlighting the importance of disaster relief measures.
United Way Bengaluru provides effective disaster relief measures across India. We aim to support those in need during times of crisis and actively manage disaster relief measures in India by addressing the immediate needs of those affected and playing a significant role in the recovery and rebuilding mechanisms.

Based on the research published on the UNICEF website, India stands among the world’s most disaster-prone countries, with 27 of its 29 states and seven union territories exposed to recurrent natural hazards. This highlights the ever increasing need for calamity and disaster management preparedness in India.
United Way Bengaluru actively engages in calamity support and management to safeguard public well being during a disaster. We initiate adequate planning and rescue implementation efforts to the affected victims

As per the World Health Organization, India lacks skilled health care workers, falling short of the minimum threshold of 22.8 skilled workers per 10,000 people. This highlights the growing need for capacity building of frontline workers.
United Way Bengaluru engages in capacity building of frontline workers. This involves a team of healthcare professionals, community health workers, emergency responders, and volunteers who offer essential healthcare support to the communities in need.

Rebuilding lives post COVID-19
From 3rd January 2020 to 6th September 2023, the World Health Organization reported 44,997,326 confirmed COVID-19 cases in India. In our fight against the global pandemic, United Way Bengaluru provided COVID-19 relief and support to government hospitals.We worked closely with primary health care centers, government and patients to safeguard public health during an emergency.
