Working with the social sector has been a dream-come-true for her. Passionate about change and making a difference, Shireen Kurian started the journey of understanding and engaging with this sector about seven years ago. One of her early stints was with Concerned for Working Children where she facilitated external communication and advocacy initiatives on behalf of Bhima Sangha, a working childrens’ union.
Shireen brings with her experience and insight in the area of communication. She believes in evolved and effective communication to build credibility and support for the development sector. Before joining UWBe, she has worked with Bangalore-based Murray Culshaw Consulting where she was responsible in providing hands-on support in communication and fundraising for small organisations. She has also developed communication strategies and material which has told stories of organisations in India and South Asia.
Armed with a Journalism degree from the Asian College of Journalism and a Fine Arts degree from the Delhi College of Arts, she attempts to infuse creativity while conveying the message clearly in her chosen area of work. Over the years, through her school and college days she has won awards.
