AT&T INDIA supports United Way to fulfill human requirements of the needy in India

NEW DELHI & Bangalore, India, XX january 2009 - AT&T India has announced a contribution of US$5,000 to United Way in India. The shared contribution between United Way of Delhi and United Way of Bengaluru will serve to fulfil the basic needs of the underprivileged in India.  
United Way, a global network of more than 3,000 non-profit organizations, is dedicated to fulfilling the most important human needs of the community by focusing on education, income and health. Each United Way organization, though part of a global network, is founded and run by people from that home community. The first United Way in India was established in Baroda, Gujarat in July 1986 and formally affiliated with United Way International that same year. In addition to Baroda, Bengaluru and Delhi there are United Way organizations in Mumbai and Hubli-Dharwad.  United Way of Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune are in early stages of development. AT&T India’s contribution will be used by United Way of Bengaluru and Delhi to support their ongoing initiatives of working with civil society to raise community standards in the verticals of healthcare, education, and livelihood.
