Vaccination Alert system, in partnership
with technology firm Mapunity
Through this, at no cost, advance vaccination alerts
are automatically sent over mobile telephones or internet
to Mothers of babies and children. While this is now being
beta tested at the elite Manipal private hospital in Bangalore,
UWBe has signed an MOU to make it available for public health
at no cost through any United Way Chapter across the world.
It will explore prospects of deploying it at Schools for the
under-privileged, such as CSHP.
Variants of this application can be used to support issues
of womens health (pre and post natal), daibetes, and other
ailments.
Vaccination alerts for new born babies
Supported by United Way, Mapunity and Manipal Hospital signed
an MOU to deploy the Vaccidate Application for beta testing.
The first deployment of the vaccination alert system has gone
live, for new born babies.
By the end of the year 2009, it is expected that the vaccination
alert system would be covering 2,000 new born babies through
this single deployment. Other deployments are planned. The
prospect of expanding the application for pre and post natal
alerts for Mothers is also being looked into.
Open-heart surgery for 100 under-privileged children
at Manipal Hospital
For open-heart surgery on 100 under-privileged children, UWBe
is planning to part-finance the difference between the actual
cost of the procedure and the compensation given by the Karnataka
government under its Suvarna Arogya Chaitanya scheme. This
would be taken up at the Manipal Hospital.
