Walkathon on 7^th March 2009, to raise funds for 1,000 free cataract surgeries.

United Way of Bengaluru organized a Walkathon to raise funds for cataract operations for the needy. Eminent sports personalities Anil Kumble, Pankaj Advani, Ashish Ballal, Ashwini Nacchappa, and Charu Sharma - along with about 800 other enthusiasts - walked around the city’s Cubbon Park at 7.15 am to raise awareness for the cause. United Way of Bengaluru has embarked on new programs to broad base its community commitment. With a vision to be a leader in intelligent and accountable philanthropy, UWBe felt recessionary times necessitated immediate action to support those who were most in need.
